Dillard Triumphs Over Huston-Tillotson in Four-Set Volleyball Matc
NEW ORLEANS– On October 18, 2025, Dillard University's volleyball team secured a decisive 3-1 victory against Huston-Tillotson University at Dent Hall, New Orleans. Dillard improved their season record to 13-7, while Huston-Tillotson fell to 11-10.
Despite a strong start by Huston-Tillotson, who clinched the first set 25-18, Dillard rebounded with resilient play, winning the subsequent three sets 25-12, 25-15, and 25-17. This victory underscored Dillard's dominance in the conference, now boasting a 9-1 record compared to Huston-Tillotson's 7-1.
Dillard's offensive efforts were spearheaded by Makaela Swoopes, who recorded 15 kills with a .357 hitting percentage. Neveah Bax also contributed significantly with 14 kills and a .314 hitting percentage. Cadence Thomas showcased efficiency with a .421 hitting percentage and secured 9 kills. The team collectively achieved a .216 hitting percentage.
Huston-Tillotson's attack struggled, particularly in the latter sets, reflected in a .027 overall hitting percentage. Jordis Taylor led the team with 4 kills and a .250 hitting percentage.
Dillard's defensive prowess was evident with 60 digs, led by Jasmyne Mumphrey with 19. Nanyelis Sosa-Moreno facilitated the offense with 47 assists.
