Bleu Devils Lose First Game of the New Year
NEW ORLEANS (Jan 5,2026) – William Carey poured in 99 points on the road Monday night, pulling away from Dillard for a 99–84 win in New Orleans on Jan. 5.
The visitors set the tone early with a 48–37 halftime lead and kept the pressure on after the break, matching their first-half output with 51 more points to close it out. Carey's efficiency was the story: 38-for-64 from the field (59.4%) and 9-for-21 from three (42.9%), repeatedly converting both in transition and in the half court.
Makeem Roberts anchored the Carey attack with a near triple-double: 10 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. He also filled the stat sheet defensively with 5 steals and a block, helping fuel a disruptive team effort that produced 16 steals overall.
Carey's depth made the margin hard for Dillard to erase. Malik Franklin led all Carey scorers with 18 points off the bench (7-for-12), while Jamar Jenkins added 16 with four made threes (4-for-7 from deep). Arzika Seibou chipped in 13 points, and Troy Dunn delivered 12 in limited minutes on a flawless 5-for-5 shooting night and 2-for-2 from three.
Dillard stayed competitive behind strong perimeter shooting—13-for-31 from three (41.9%)—but couldn't overcome the gap in overall finishing and turnovers. Tyler Wiley provided a spark off the bench with 15 points and four threes (4-for-5), and Christopher Landers was highly efficient with 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting. Dillard's starters were balanced, with Christian Pichon Jr., DaCarter Coleman, and Devin Lewis each scoring 13, but the Bleu Devils committed 21 turnovers and generated only three free-throw attempts all night (making all three), limiting chances to slow Carey's momentum.
Ultimately, Carey's combination of high-percentage offense, aggressive ball pressure, and bench production proved decisive in the 15-point road victory.
