Southern erupts for 18 runs across third and fourth innings to down Dillard 20-7
Baton Rouge, La. — March 10, 2026 — 6:00 p.m.
Dillard University showed early fight and kept pace through the first two innings Tuesday night, but Southern University's offense broke the game open with a decisive third inning and never let up in a 20-7 win.
Dillard (7 runs, 8 hits, 2 errors) briefly took control in the top of the second when Joseph Ramsey delivered a two-run triple, scoring RayJ Rose and Ronaldo Rivera to give the Bleu Devils a 2-1 lead. Southern responded immediately, then turned the game into a rout with a relentless stretch of extra-base hits, walks, and timely contact.
After trading runs early, Southern's third inning became the defining sequence of the night. The Jaguars plated 11 runs in the frame, highlighted by:
- Jacoby Radcliffe's grand slam to right field
- Bradley's three-run double later in the inning
- A series of run-producing plate appearances that included hit-by-pitches, a walk with the bases loaded, and back-to-back RBI singles
Southern followed with seven more runs in the fourth, pushing the lead to 20-4 and effectively ending any path back for Dillard.
Even as Southern separated, Dillard continued to compete offensively and found ways to manufacture runs.
- Noah Riley anchored the lineup with a standout night, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double. He also stole a base.
- Ramsey finished with two RBIs on the triple that sparked Dillard's best inning.
- In the fifth, Dillard added three runs without needing a big swing: Edrick Harrison's RBI single, a run scoring on a wild pitch, and an RBI when Malcolm McKay drew a bases-loaded walk.
- Dillard worked eight walks, repeatedly forcing Southern pitchers into traffic.
The Bleu Devils also flashed aggression on the bases, including steals by Mike Lewis and Riley, though they were also caught stealing once (K'Wality Williams).
Dillard's staff struggled to slow Southern's momentum in the middle innings. Starter Daryl Tillman Jr. took the loss after allowing 7 runs in 2.1 innings, with Southern's big inning continuing after he exited. The Jaguars finished with 16 hits and 11 walks, consistently extending innings.
One bright spot for Dillard came late: Trenton Rosebourgh delivered three scoreless innings (3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R), giving the Bleu Devils stability after the early barrage.
Defensively, Dillard was charged with two errors, while Southern played cleanly (0 errors) and turned a double play.
Southern's lineup produced damage up and down the order:
- Bradley drove in six runs, including a home run and a three-run double
- Radcliffe added four RBIs on the grand slam
- Lucky went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs
- Southern totaled 20 RBIs on the night, matching its 20 runs.
Final: Southern University 20, Dillard University 7.
