Dillard Women’s Sprinters Dominate at Final Day of the Pelican Relays
BATON ROUGE,LA — April 11, 2026 — The Dillard University women's sprint group delivered a standout performance at the Pelican Relays, highlighted by multiple top finishes and nationally ranked relay performances.
Senior Tori Burton led the way with a runner-up finish in the 100 meters (12.19s) and returned to place fourth in the 200 meters (24.79s). Freshman Mackenzie Cannon made a strong impact, finishing sixth in the 100m (12.43s) and posting a personal best 25.12s in the 200m, earning both NAIA and HBCU rankings.
Freshman Tatiana Clay continued her strong season with a 25.06s in the 200 meters, earning a top-40 NAIA ranking, while Ta'nyia Flowers (25.63) and Laila Johnson (26.10) added depth in the event.
In the 400 meters, freshman Karlise Davison turned in a breakthrough performance, finishing second overall in 58.91s, a personal best that earned NAIA and HBCU national rankings.
The highlight of the meet came in the relays, where the 4x100m team of Tori Burton, Tatiana Clay, Ta'nyia Flowers, and Laila Johnson captured first place in 46.33, moving to No. 6 in the NAIA and No. 14 among HBCUs. The 4x800m relay team of Caitlyn Gordon, Desire Robinson, Karlise Davison, and Nhaydia Flowers also secured first place, clocking 10:58.46 to earn a top-25 NAIA ranking.
