Dillard Women Shine Day one at Pelican Relays
BATON ROUGE,LA – April 10, 2026 — The Dillard University women's track & field team delivered a strong and well-rounded performance this weekend at the Pelican Relays, hosted by Southern University, highlighted by multiple top finishes, national rankings, and a dominant relay victory.
Leading the way in the 200 meters, senior Tori Burton placed fourth overall with a time of 24.79s, setting the tone for an impressive showing in the event. Freshman Tatiana Clay continued her standout season, finishing seventh in 25.06s, earning a Top 40 NAIA national ranking. Teammate Mackenzie Cannon followed closely in ninth place with a personal best 25.12s, moving into both NAIA (#45) and HBCU (#101) rankings.
Senior Ta'nyia Flowers added depth to the sprint group with a 15th-place finish (25.63), while freshman Lazariah Garner (25.77) and sophomore Laila Johnson (26.10) rounded out Dillard's efforts in the event. T-Anna Dawkins did not compete.
In the field, Trinity Marshall secured a top-10 finish in the javelin, placing ninth with a throw of 21.63m (70-11), earning an HBCU national ranking.
The highlight of the meet came in the women's 4x800m relay, where the quartet of Caitlyn Gordon, Desire Robinson, Karlise Davison, and Nhaydia Flowers captured first place with a time of 10:58.46. The performance earned the team a Top 25 NAIA national ranking (#22) and showcased Dillard's strength in middle-distance competition.
