Dillard Women Continue to Dominate Indoor Season
New Orleans, LA- Dillard Track and Field hosted the Mardi Gras Indoor Classic this past weekend. They competed against XULA and Loyola- New Orleans. Dillard's Women track and field continue to find success as the broke 5 school records this past Friday. Tashina Alase-Beyioku broke two school records: 60m hurdles and high jump.Coach Nile stated, "My women will be dangerous, we're a young team looking to compete". Dillard's inexperience has not been on display as they have been the top competitor in every indoor meet this season. They will look to continue the trend of first as they advance towards the NAIA Indoor championship.
Kevell Byrd- Won the 60m with a time of 7.70, which is the #4 spot all time. Earlier in the day Byrd ran 7.64 which ranks her #3 All time. The last event of the day Bird anchored the women's 4x4 to a national berth, the 4x4 is the 4th event she has qualified for.
Rachel Jackson- Broke the school record with a time of 2:33.61 in the 800m.
Tashina Alase- Beyioku- Broke two school records on the day. First was the 60h (8.78) and then the high jump with a mark of 1.64m qualifying her for the NAIA Nationals.
Alanni Martin- continues to impress in weight throw, the junior has thrown herself to the #5 spot all all time in the event
Rachel Rowe- Has qualified for her 2nd consecutive indoor championships, triple jumping the #2 jump all time in school history (11.35m)
Brooklyn Acosta- Broke her school record in the 1000m for the 2nd consecutive meet with a time of 3:43.03, her previous marks was 3:48.62
Freshman, Ta'nyia Flowers- Continues to put on a show running a career best in the 60m (7.74) punching her ticket to nationals. She is now #4 all Time in the 60m. Flowers also helped the women's 4x4 punch their ticket to nationals.
Freshman, Meghan Joshua- Ran back to back personal best in the 60m 7.83 and 7.90. Her time of 7.83 is #9 all time
Freshman, Kennedy Timmons- is becoming a threat in the distance events running the school #1 5000m time of 22:56.05. Timmons now owns the 3000m and 5000m records.
4x4: Matthews, Flowers, Byrd and Burton has qualified for the indoor national championships all while breaking the school record
