Newcomers Rise to The Occasion at McNeese Indoor
New Orleans,LA- Coach Nile and the Women's Track team went on the road this past Friday to compete in the McNeese Indoor meet. Just like like in past outings, the ladies left no doubt in their level of competition. Many of the Women's track team newcomers posted great numbers as they battle to qualify for nationals. Coach Nile had this to say, "We are headed in the right direction as a team and they are competing at a high level now". They will have some time to regroup before traveling to LSU for the Twilight Indoor meet on Feb. 17th.
Stephonie White: Continued her dominant throwing, the freshman threw 10.54m in the weight throw, That throw is #3 all-time on the university's top 10 lists. In the shot put White threw 10.11m which was good for 13th overall.
Rachel Rowe: Finished 6th overall in the long jump with a mark of 5.17m. Rowe also finished 6th in the triple jump on the day with a mark of 10.78m.
Tashina: first-time high jumping leaped into the #2 spot in school history with a jump of 1.45m just missing the record of 1.47m
Ta'nyia Flowers: Finished 7th in the 400m with a session best of 1:01.99.
Trinity Marshall: Opened up her season in the 55h with a time of 9.14
Tori Burton: Continued her top sprinting finishing 4th in the 55m with a time of 7.38 and 26.14 in the 200m, which ranks her #10 in school history.
Freshman Kennedy Timmons demolished the record in the 3000m run with a time of 13:07.13
