Multiple National Qualifiers in Bleu Devils Indoor Track Classic
New Orleans,LA- The women on the Dillard track and field team put on a great performance in its first contest of the season. The Bleu Devils had multiple top-three finishers and many of them qualified for nationals. Coach Nile said, "This is by far the best women's team I've had at Dillard, this season will be very special". The Bleu Devils travel to Houston next week, January 20th, to compete in the FasTrak Invite indoor meet.
Rachel Rowe (Long jump) qualified for her 5 consecutive national championships, while just missing her school record.
Kevell Byrd qualified for nationals in the 60m (7.71) , which is #7 nationally. Just outside of her school record of (7.59). Today's time of 7.71 is the #3 time in Dillard's top 10. Byrd also qualified in the 200m with a time of (24.77) which is #2 in the nation.
Brooklyn Acosta set a new school record in the 1000m (3:48.62), Acosta now owns every single Distance record at the school.
Freshman Phenom:
Ta'nyia Flowers (7.82) 60m ranks her #15 nationally & #12 in the 200m. She is now in the Dillard top 10 in both events.
Daila Young shattered the school record in the 60 hurdles running a blazing time of 8.96. She is the #16 hurdler in the country. Young is the #2 freshman in the country in her respective events.
Tori Burton (60m, 200m) and Meghan Joshua (60m, 200m) both put down some blazing times, ranking them both in the top 40 nationally. Both are now in the Dillard top 10 in both events.
