The No. 13 Nationally Ranked Dillard Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Program Totals Two NAIA Qualifying Marks and Wins a Pair of Events at the Carey Last Chance Meet on Friday
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The No. 13 nationally ranked Dillard's women's outdoor track and field recorded a pair of NAIA automatic qualifying marks, three top-three finishes and two event wins at the Carey Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 13, at the William Carey Track & Field Complex. The women finished third overall with 43 points.
The 4x100 relay team of Kevell Byrd, Ta'Nijal Matthews, Rachel Rowe and Ryan Smith won their event with 47.62. The time was also an NAIA automatic qualifying mark although it was one that the team had already bettered earlier this season.
Matthews finished third in the 400m with a 59.03.
Rachel Rowe won the triple jump with an 11.85m. The mark was an NAIA automatic qualifying mark although a mark that she had bettered earlier this season.
Leila Walton finished third in the triple jump with a 10.75m. She also placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with 1:14.38.
Next, Dillard's women's program will send a delegation of competitors to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the 2022 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships from May 25-27 at Mickey Blackwell Stadium.
