The Dillard Women’s Track & Field Program Is Ranked No. 10 in the South Region In The Seventh 2022 USTFCCCA Outdoor Poll

New Orleans  – The Dillard women's track & field program moved down a spot to No. 10  in the South Region in the seventh released 2022 USTFCCCA Outdoor Coaches' Poll on May 9, the organization announced today.

Dillard received 307.16 points in the poll. DU is one of three from the GCAC to be ranked along with Edward Waters (No. 28) and Rust College (No. 36). DU is the top ranked of three teams in the poll from the state of Louisiana ahead of Loyola (No. 12) and Xavier (No. 17). The program was ranked No. 9 in the region last week.

The program has the fifth-ranked 200m sprinter in the country (Kevell Byrd), the sixth-ranked 200m sprinter (Jakenzie Thymes), the sixth-ranked triple jumper (Rachel Rowe), the seventh-ranked 200m sprinter (Ryan Smith). the eighth-ranked 400m sprinter (Kevell Byrd), the 10th-ranked 100m sprinter (Kevell Byrd), the 11th-ranked 4x400 relay team (Kevell Byrd, Anginique Andrews, Karmyn Dotson, Ta'Nijal Matthews), the 12th-ranked long jumper (Rachel Rowe) and the 16th-ranked 4x100 relay group (Kevell Byrd, Ta'Nijal Matthews, Rachel Rowe, Ryan Smith) and the 22nd-ranked triple jumper (Leila Walton).

Dillard won the 2022 GCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the fourth time since 2010 on Saturday, April 23. The program had 11 event victories and 34 All-GCAC selections over the course of the two-days of competition. The program followed that up by seeing their 4x400 relay team finish fourth at the prestigious Penn Relays on April 30 with a season-best time of 3:54.65.

The poll was voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences around the country.
