Xavier (LA) Triumphs Over Dillard in a Defensive Battle
NEW ORLEANS–In a closely contested matchup on November 8, 2025, Xavier University of Louisiana's women's basketball team secured a 55-43 victory over Dillard University at their home court in New Orleans. With this win, Xavier improved their season record to 2-0, while Dillard fell to 1-3.
The game began with Dillard taking the lead in the first quarter, outscoring Xavier 15-7. However, Xavier responded with a strong second quarter, closing the gap to just four points by halftime, 25-21 in favor of Dillard.
Xavier took control in the third quarter, where they outscored Dillard 20-6, establishing a commanding lead that they would not relinquish. The final quarter saw both teams scoring in double digits, but Xavier maintained their lead and sealed the victory.
Xavier's offensive efforts were led by Alicia Blanton, who contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds. Shania Swan also played a pivotal role, scoring 12 points and grabbing 4 rebounds. Tiarra Tillison was instrumental in playmaking, dishing out 7 assists while adding 5 rebounds and 6 points.
Dillard's offense was spearheaded by D'Mya Ferguson, who recorded 11 points and 6 rebounds. Azaria Knox added 10 points and was strong on the boards with 8 rebounds.
