The Dillard Women’s Basketball Team Sees Three Make All-GCAC Squads
Little Rock, Arkansas – The Dillard women's basketball team saw three of its player selected to All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Teams, presented by the Little Rock Coaches this afternoon, the conference announced in a mid-day ceremony.
Diniaa McZeal and Taylor Dewitt were both named Second Team All-GCAC. It was the first time that either has been selected All-GCAC although McZeal was named the GCAC Freshman of the Year in her rookie season during the winter of 2020. In the regular season, McZeal led the team with her average of 7.7 points per game while playing in 21 games. She led the club with her 35 made threes. Her 35 made three were 20 more than her next closest teammate. McZeal also 28 assists, 23 rebounds and 21 steals. She scored a career-high 25 points against Fisk University on Feb. 5. Dewitt placed second on the team during the regular season with her average of 7.2 points per game during the regular season while playing in 22 games with nine starts. She also ranked second on the team in rebounding with 77 and had 20 steals. She was named the GCAC's Player of the Week on Dec. 21 for the first time in her career.
JaQuanna Hunter was the third member of the Dillard team to earn an All-GCAC honor as she was named to the All-Defensive Team. Hunter led the team in rebounding with 136 rebounds and average of 6.5 rebounds per game while playing in 21 games with 16 starts. She totaled 38 assists and 35 steals.
Next the Dillard women's team will take on top seed and host institution Philander Smith in the semifinals of the GCAC Tournament starting at 5 p.m. on Feb. 26.
