Dillard Men Show Depth, Secure Strong Finish at the HBCUAC Outdoor Championship
SHREVEPORT, LA – May 1, 2026 — The Dillard University men's track & field team delivered a strong and balanced performance at the 2026 HBCUAC Outdoor Championships, highlighted by multiple event champions, relay success, and scoring across sprints, middle distance, and field events.
Senior Mark Emilien led the way with a standout meet, capturing the 400-meter title (48.19) and adding a fifth-place finish in the 200m (21.73). Emilien also ran a key leg on the championship 4x400m relay (3:18.62).
Freshman Kydell Miner earned a conference title in the 800 meters (2:00.46), showcasing Dillard's strength in the middle-distance events. In the distance group, K'mon Washington placed third in the 1500m, while Phillip Issac added points in both the 1500m and 5000m.
Junior Markel Myles delivered a strong performance in the hurdles, finishing third in the 110m hurdles (14.76) and second in the 400m hurdles (55.43). He also contributed on the 4x400m relay team.
In the sprints, freshman Lance Williams provided key scoring efforts in the 200 meters, while Surprise Babalola and Jamaal Morris Jr. added points in the 100 meters. Morris also contributed valuable points in both the 200m and 400m.
The Dillard relay teams were a major highlight of the meet. The men captured the 4x400m relay title (3:18.62) and added runner-up finishes in both the 4x100m relay (40.94) and 4x800m relay (8:12.84), showcasing depth and consistency across all relay groups.
In the field events, Lance Williams and Anthony Thompson scored in the long jump, while Robert Jackson Jr. contributed in the throws.
