Dillard Men’s Track & Field Finish the Pelican Relays with another Strong Showing
BATON ROUGE, LA — April 11, 2026 — The Dillard University men's track & field team delivered an impressive performance at the Pelican Relays, highlighted by multiple podium finishes, national rankings, and personal-best marks.
Senior standout Jamaal Morris Jr. led the way in the sprints, earning a third-place finish in the 100 meters with a season-best time of 10.53s, moving him to No. 15 in the NAIA and No. 36 among HBCUs. Morris doubled back to claim another third-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking 21.57s.
Senior Mark Emilien had a breakout meet, placing second in the 400 meters with a time of 48.02s, while also finishing fifth in the 200 meters in 21.64, earning NAIA and HBCU national rankings. Freshman Lance Williams added depth in the 400m, placing fifth in 48.93s, while Jordan Thomas recorded a season-best 50.03s.
In the hurdles, junior Markel Myles secured a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.03s, while Jeremy Geary Jr. posted a personal-best 17.45s in the 110m hurdles and added another PR in the 400m hurdles (58.59).
The distance crew was dominant in the 5000 meters, as freshman Maurice Lyles claimed the event title with a time of 20:14.94, followed closely by teammate Elijah Williams, who finished second in 20:25.99. Lyles also recorded a personal best in the 1500 meters (4:49.94) earlier in the meet.
In field events, Elijah Williams cleared 1.87m (6-1.5) in the high jump to earn an HBCU top-60 ranking, while Damion Hammond Jr. and Robert Jackson Jr. contributed in the throws.
The 4x100m relay team of Lance Williams, Denim Charles, Mark Emilien, and Jamaal Morris Jr. turned in a strong performance, finishing second overall in 40.96s.
