The No. 17 Nationally Ranked Dillard Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Program Sees Its 4x400m Relay and Jamaal Morris Jr. Qualify for Fridays Finals On the Second Day of the 2022 NAIA Track & Field Championships
Gulf Shores, Alabama - The No. 17 nationally ranked Dillard's men's outdoor track and field saw its 4x400m relay team and Jamaal Morris Jr. (400m) qualify for the finals in their events on the second day of the 2022 NAIA Track & Field Championships to highlight the action for the team in Gulf Shores, Alabama at Mickey Blackwell Stadium on Thursday, May 26.
Jamaal Morris Jr. qualified for his second individual final at the NAIA championship in placing sixth in the preliminaries in the 400m with a 47.48. The time was a new school record in the event as he broke Jevonte Ezzard's 2013 time of 47.53. He finished second in the fourth heat. Cody Branch finished 18th in the same event with a 48.79.
Morris also placed ninth in the 100m with 10.59. Branch finished 16th in the same event with a 10.64.
Morris was also part of the 4x400m relay team along with Branch, Christopher Watson and Joshun Noel that ran a 3:16.55 to qualify for the finals in their event. The group officially finished 15th overall, but were able to secure the bid into the finals.
Next, Dillard's men's program continues competing on the third day of the competition on May 27. The events on the third day that include DU's men's team are the triple jump (Julian Williams) at 1:30 p.m., the finals of the 4x100m relay (Cody Branch, Jamaal Morris Jr., Kaleb McClendon, Willie McCaulley, James Ray Pennington III) at 2:50 p.m., the 400m finals (Jamaal Morris Jr.) at 4:40 p.m., the 200m finals (Jamaal Morris Jr.) at 5:20 p.m. and the 4x400m relay (Cody Branch, Jamaal Morris Jr., Joshun Noel, Christopher Watson, Benjamin Todd) at 6:25 p.m.
