The No. 17 Nationally Ranked Dillard Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Program Has Steady Opening Day at the 2022 NAIA Track & Field Championships
Gulf Shores, Alabama - The No. 17 nationally ranked Dillard's men's outdoor track and field had steady first day at the 2022 NAIA Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama at Mickey Blackwell Stadium on Wednesday, May 25, as the 4x100m relay team and Jamaal Morris Jr. both qualified for the finals of their events.
The Dillard 4x100m relay team of Willie McCaulley, Cody Branch, Kaleb McClendon and Jamaal Morris Jr. ran the top time in their event with a 40.42. DU in the reigning national champion in the event. The group will go for the school's second straight national championship on Friday, May 27, at 2:50 p.m.
Morris also qualified for the finals in the 200m after placing third in event in the preliminaries with 21.06. Branch placed ninth overall to just missed out on making it to the finals, top eight advance, in running a 21.34. McClendon placed 33rd with a 22.09.
Next, Dillard's men's program continues competing on the second day of the competition on May 26. The events on the second day that include DU's men's team are the 100m trials (Cody Branch, Jamaal Morris Jr.) at 4:40 p.m., the 400m trials (Cody Branch, Jamaal Morris Jr.) at 5:20 p.m. and the preliminaries of the 4x400m relays (Cody Branch, Jamaal Morris Jr., Joshun Noel, Christopher Watson and Benjamin Todd) at 9:45 p.m.
