The Dillard Men’s Track & Field Program Is Ranked No. 11 in the South Region In the Seventh USTFCCCA Outdoor Poll

New Orleans  – The Dillard men's track & field program is ranked No. 11 in the South Region in the seventh released 2022 USTFCCCA Outdoor Coaches' Poll on May 9, the organization announced today.

Dillard received a total of 279.81 points in the poll. The program stayed the same from last week. DU has moved down a total of three spots over the last three weeks despite earning the 2022 GCAC Championship with 286.5 points for the second straight year on April 23. Dillard is one of only two to be ranked in the GCAC along with Edward Waters (No. 23) and are the top ranked team in the state of Louisiana ahead of both Xavier (No. 15) and Loyola (No. 30). The program was ranked No. 5 in the South Region in each of the first two polls of the season, were seventh in week three, eighth in week four, ranked 10th in week five and No. 11 in last week's and in this week's poll.

The program has the second-ranked 4x100 relay group in the country (Willie McCaulley, Cody Branch, Kaleb McClendon and Jamaal Morris Jr.), the third-fastest 100m sprinter (Cody Branch), the fourth-ranked 200m sprinter (Jamaal Morris Jr.), fourth-ranked 200m sprinter in the country (Jamaal Morris Jr.), the seventh-ranked 100m sprinter (Jamaal Morris Jr.), the ninth-ranked 200m sprinter (Cody Branch), the 13th-fastest 4x400m team (Cody Branch, Jamaal Morris Jr., Benjamin Todd and Kaleb McClendon), the 16th-ranked 400m sprinter (Cody Branch), the 22nd-ranked 400m sprinter (Jamaal Morris Jr.) and the 29th-ranked triple jumper (Julian Williams) in the country.

Dillard won the 2022 GCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the fourth time since 2010 on Saturday, April 23. The program had 15 event victories and 40 All-GCAC selections over the course of the two-days of competition. The program finished that up by seeing Jamaal Morris Jr. placing 17th in the 100m at the Penn Relays on April 29. DU saw their 4x100 relay team of Jamaal Morris Jr., Cody Branch, Kaleb McClendon and Willie McCaulley) get the invitation to the meet, but were not able to compete due to injury.

The national poll was voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences around the country.

Next, Dillard's men's program will compete in the Carey Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 13, at 11 a.m.
