The Dillard Men’s Tennis Team Picked For Seventh in the 2022 Southern States Athletic Conference Coaches’ Preseason Poll

Montgomery, Ala. – The Dillard University men's tennis team was picked for seventh by the league coaches in the 2022 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Preseason Poll, the conference office announced this morning.

The Dillard's men's tennis program, under the direction of head coach Meenakshi Sundaram, is in its first year of competition in the spring since being discontinued following the 2005 school year. The program was discontinued due to the recovery efforts necessary after Hurricane Katrina. It is the first time that the athletic department is adding sports since the 2009-10 school year when the five sports were added in men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track & field plus the sport of softball. With the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) not offering tennis as a competitive sport at this point, Dillard will play the 2022 season as an associate member of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).

Dillard totaled 26 points in the preseason poll to rank seventh overall. William Carey with 80 points and eight first-place votes are predicted to win the league this season.

The 2022 league championships are set for April 21 – 23 in Montgomery, Alabama at the Lagoon Park Tennis Complex.

The 2022 Dillard men's tennis team roster consists of Felix Hamp, Albert Segura, Youssef Berrajah Afik Harari, Pranav Mehta, Boris Aguma and Yassine Ben Jemaa.

The men's tennis team is set to begin the season on the road on Friday, Feb 4, against Xavier University of Louisiana at 3 p.m.
