Bleu Devils blow second half lead vs. SUNO

(New Orleans) Dillard suffered its eighth straight loss by falling to Southern University at New Orleans by the score of 70-43 on the campus of SUNO.

The Bleu Devils (4-9, 0-7 GCAC) led by as many as ten in the second half before having a complete meltdown as SUNO went on a 49-12 run to end the game. Freshman JaCarre Crockett scored eight straight points in the first half to extend Dillard's lead and finished with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field.

Redshirt freshman Houston Chatman finished with 10 points, eight boards, two steals and one assist in 32 minutes while freshman Robert Pratt produced 10 points and five rebounds off the bench. The Bleu Devils committed 16 turnovers while SUNO only committed eight.

For SUNO, Joe Brown couldn't miss all night as he produced a double-double, finishing with 19 points and 17 rebounds, shooting 9-for-12 from the field. Brown also produced three blocks and two assists in the contest.

Dillard senior post man Jeremy Rixner had six points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and one assist in 32 minutes.

The Bleu Devils continue conference play as they host GCAC newcomer Voorhees College on Saturday, February 8. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
