BLEU DEVILS SPORTS RECAP-MBB

On Monday, Dillard men's basketball dropped its 12th Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game in a row, 73-59, to the University of Mobile (14-7, 7-5) at Pharr Gym, in Mobile, Ala. The Bleu Devils are now 2-16 overall and 0-12 in league play.

James Burkes led Dillard with 17 points and eight rebounds, followed by Cornice Wingate with 12 points and Autrail Manning with 10. To highlight their effort, the Bleu Devils shot 82 percent from the free throw line hitting 23 of 28, with Manning earning all but two of his points at the charity stripe as he went 8 for 9. The Rams were paced by Ji Kimbrough, who had 22 points to lead all scorers. Kevin Calloway added 16 points and Treii Pace grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

This weekend, the men fell to third place Belhaven University, 82-73, at Rugg Arena. The Blazers are 18-6 overall and 8-4 in the GCAC. Manning paced the Bleu Devils at this outing, scoring 21 points - a season-high for the senior guard. Wingate and Burkes followed with 14 and 15 points, respectively. True freshman Oscar Moore produced a career-high eight points. Myron McGowan led the DU rebounding effort with eight caroms.

Belhaven's Tensley Cowan posted a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Blazers.

The Bleu Devils will host the Loyola Wolfpack (13-10, 5-7), Thursday, February 11. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Dent Gym.
