Former Basketball Star Tory Cargo receives 2024-25 All-Louisiana Men's Basketball Honorable Mention
NEW ORLEANS (August 26,2025) – On August 24, the 2024-25 All-Louisiana Men's Basketball team was released. SID's (Sports Information Directors) from colleges and universities throughout the state nominated players from their respective schools to be considered for this prestigious honor. The SID's in turn voted for not only the teams, first, second and third, but also for player of the year, newcomer of the year, freshman of the year, and coach of the year. The results are as follows:
Tory Cargo was Dillard's leading scorer last season with a total of 453 points averaging 14.6 points a game. He earned All-HBCUAC First Team and a spot on the all-tournament team and was a crucial character in bringing home the team's first championship since 2018.
As for Tory, he's beyond honored to be able to officially end his collegiate career with this accomplishment. "It's a very exciting moment for me," said Cargo after hearing the news. "I want to thank the man above and my coaches for nominating me. It feels good knowing not only that I held myself and my university down, but it's a different feeling knowing I held my city down," shared the New Orleans native.
"Cargo had a remarkable 2-year career here at Dillard, he made first team all-conference both years and led us to two championship appearances," shared Coach Joseph Price, the head men's basketball coach.
Coach Robinson, the assistant coach, has watched Cargo develop his game from high school to college, " He came into Dillard with an openmind in 2023 and immediately took on the role of team captain, which was unfamiliar to him. He continued to grow as a leader during his second year and set a winning standard that the team bought into."
"It's great to see him be recognized by the state for his talent and to know that I was a part of his journey. I'm proud of him and I'm excited to see where the next part of life is going to take him," said Price.
