Dillard University Announces 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees

New Orleans, LA - The Dillard Athletics Hall of Fame is proud to announce the induction of thirteen exceptional individuals into its prestigious ranks. These athletes have demonstrated outstanding skill, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout their careers, leaving a lasting impact on the Dillard University sports community. The 2024 inductees are:
- Dr. Harold Lundy, '71: A four-time shot put champion in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) and recipient of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics scholar-athlete honors.
- Eugene Lamb Jr., '71: A talented basketball player who was named to the All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Team and drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters.
- Erica Lipscomb, '05: A decorated California high school basketball player who excelled at Dillard University, averaging 12.6 points per game and tying the school record for most 3-pointers in a game.
- Jessica Brown-Casby,'02: A key player for the Lady Bleu Devil basketball team, instrumental in leading the team to the GCAC regular Championship, GCAC Tournament Championship, and a Sweet-Sixteen Appearance.
- Melvin Williams' 74: A standout track athlete who earned Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) honors in multiple events and achieved Honorable Mention All-American status.
- Johnnie Burks, '70: A multi-sport athlete who excelled in football, basketball, bowling, and track, winning Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) honors in the hurdles.
- Kiavonna Johnson-Jefferson, '02: A basketball player known for her leadership on and off the court, earning multiple MVP and All-Conference accolades.
- Larry Lundy, '72: An outstanding student-athlete who excelled in football and track, earning all GCAC honors in three events throughout his four years at Dillard.
- Pamela Wilkes, '00: A talented multi-sport athlete who shone in basketball, earning Defensive Player of the Year and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) honors.
- Que Nash, '00: A standout basketball player who was named Gulf Coast Conference Athletic Conference (GCAC) "All-Conference" twice and received Honorable Mention National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recognition.
- Jonathan Billingsley, '96: A shooting guard who led his high school team to their first basketball championship and averaged 26.0 points per game.
- Jamara Celistan, '14: A volleyball player known for her blocking skills and quick offensive plays, who won the GCAC volleyball championship and was a GCAC MVP semifinalist.
- Freddie Little, '61: A versatile athlete who excelled in football, basketball, track, and boxing. Little would go on to have an exceptional boxing career.
These individuals have left an indelible mark on Dillard University athletics, and their induction into the Hall of Fame is a testament to their exceptional talent and dedication. The 2024 Dillard Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on May 8th, 2024, at Dillard University. More information will be released as the ceremony approaches.
