(New Orleans) The Dillard Bleu Devils lost to the Xavier Gold Rush 64-37 on Saturday night at the Barn on the campus of Xavier University.
The Dillard Bleu Devils looked overwhelmed from the opening tip against the Gold Rush, trailing 12-0 before scoring their first point of the game on a free-throw by Terry Church with just over thirteen minutes remaining in the first half. The Bleu Devils continued to battle and trailed by only nine at 17-8 following a three-pointer by Troy Bertrand. Bleu Devil, Lance Theard, brought Dillard even closer following his own three-pointer at 17-13, prompting the Gold Nuggets to called timeout. Following the timeout, Xavier went on a 15-2 run to go into halftime up on the Bleu Devils 32-15.
The Gold Rush came out in the second half and essentially put the game away against the Bleu Devils. Xavier hit four consecutive three-pointers to go up 51-24 and coast to the victory from that point.
Lorenzo Mitchell came off the bench to lead the Bleu Devils with 10 points, all in the second half.
Dillard will now focus on their next conference opponent, Southern University at New Orleans. The Bleu Devils will battle the Knights on Tuesday, January 31st at 7:30p.m. at the Castle on the campus of Southern University at New Orleans.
(New Orleans) Kerry Harvis had 19 points and 8 rebounds as the Talladega Tornadoes defeated the Dillard Bleu Devils 76-60 on Monday night on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
The Bleu Devils trailed 42-31 at halftime and were unable to close the gap in the second half.
Terry Church led the Bleu Devils with 16 points. Myron McGowan contributed 12 points and 4 rebounds.
The Dillard Bleu Devils will battle crosstown rival Xavier University on Saturday, January 28th at the Barn on the campus of Xavier University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00p.m.
(New Orleans) Dillard won their first game of the season and Head Coach Bernard Griffith got his first victory as coach as the Bleu Devils upset Edward Waters College 64-62 before a packed and rowdy crowd on MLK Day on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
The victory was sweet for the Bleu Devils, who had suffered several heartbreaking losses prior to defeating Edward Waters.

(New Orleans) The Dillard Bleu Devils battled back from an eighteen point lead but fell short late and lost to the Philander Smith Panthers 82-77 on Saturday night on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
The Dillard Bleu Devils (0-4, 0-14) showed amazing resiliency, coming back from a fourteen point half time deficit and eighteen point second half deficit to regain the lead on the Panthers (2-2, 5-11) before falling late.
