(New Orleans) Dillard's Terry Church scored a game-high 30 points, but it was not as the Bleu Devils lost to the Tougaloo Bulldogs 77-61 on Saturday night on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
The Bulldogs' Juan Gray scored 17 points in the first eleven minutes of the game to fuel Tougaloo to a 37-31 halftime lead. The Bulldogs started the second half with a 17-6 run to take a commanding seventeen point lead and coast to the victory.
Church was 9-of-15 from the field and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line in the loss. He also had two three-pointers. Troy Bertrand came off the bench and chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the Bleu Devils.
The Bleu Devils will travel to Mobile, Alabama to face Spring Hill College on Monday, February 13th at 7:30p.m.
(Jackson, MS) The Dillard Bleu Devils hung with the GCAC Conference leading Tougaloo Bulldogs for a half, but they were unable to sustain the same intensity in the second half and lost 69-44 in Jackson, MS on Saturday night.
Troy Bertrand was the lone Bleu Devil to score in double figures, finishing with 14 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
The Bleu Devils (1-8, 1-18) trailed 31-24 at the half, using solid team defense to stay within striking distance of the Bulldogs.
Tougaloo (8-1, 17-5) came out in the second half with intense defensive pressure, capitalizing off the Bleu Devils' mistakes to cruise to the victory.
The Bleu Devils will battle the Talladega Tornadoes on Monday, February 6th at 7:30p.m in Talladega, Alabama.
