
Coach Carlos Dante' Smith enters his first year under Head Coach Dale Brown for the men's basketball program. Smith joins the Dillard University athletics family to assist the program to return to the former prestige it held before Hurricane Katrina.
Smith played collegiate basketball at the University of South Alabama under head coach John Pelphrey. Smith was a starting point guard and led his team to postseason spots in the NCAA and NIT tournaments. He also helped the Jaguars to two Sun Belt Conference Championships victories and received all-conference honors.
Before playing basketball at the University of South Alabama, Smith attended high schools in Georgia and Massachusetts and averaged approximately 20 points per game and between 5-8 assists per game during his junior and senior years.
Professionally, Carlos Smith played basketball overseas in Cyprus, Greece for 3 seasons and averaged 13 points per game and 3 assists per game.
