Kiki Baker Barnes - Head Coach

Coach Kiki Baker Barnes enters her third interim year as Athletic Director of Dillard University Athletics Department and Head Women's Basketball Coach for the Dillard University Lady Blue Devils. Barnes served as the assistant women's basketball coach for the university prior to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

During her tenure at Dillard University, Barnes has established the university's first comprehensive athletics website (www.dillardbluedevils.com), and was selected to participate as one of ten minority coaches in the Black Coaches and Administrators' (BCA) 2008 Achieving Coaching Excellence (ACE) Program. Barnes also is one of two African-Americans named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) newly formed National Administrative Council (NAC).

Prior to her arrival at Dillard University, Barnes served as an assistant basketball coach at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Southern University at Baton Rouge, and Frank Philips College. She also served as head women's basketball coach and spirit coordinator at Southern University at Shreveport, where she led the team to the school's first winning season.

Barnes athletic experience greatly contributes to her proficient coaching abilities. She was a standout basketball player and track star for the University of New Orleans (UNO). She currently holds UNO's triple long jump record. Before being recruited by UNO, Barnes led the South Plains College Lady Texans Basketball Team to a 23-7 record while leading the team in steals and seconding in scoring.

Her educational background includes an associate's degree in telecommunication from South Plains College (1995), a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of New Orleans (1997), and a master's degree in communications with concentration in Public Relations from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2001). She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational administration at UNO.

Barnes is married to Marc Barnes, Sr. They have two children, Caitlin and Marc, Jr.

Norbert Rome - Assistant Coach

Coach Norbert Rome returned to his alma mater in the 2007-2008 season. He enters his second year as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach for the Dillard University Lady Blue Devils.

During his tenure with Dillard University, Coach Rome has assisted tremendously in the rebuilding process of the athletics department to help it achieve its original success prior to Hurricane Katrina.

Rome volunteered his time two seasons with Loyola University during the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 seasons.

Rome prepped at Warren Easton High School. His ability to understand the game helped him lead his high school team to the quarterfinals in the state playoffs in 1995. He was the third leading scorer on a team that graduated several collegiate players. The team posted the best record in school's history.

After high school, Rome went to play at Mary Holmes Junior College. He led the team in three point field goal percentage during his sophomore season. He then earned a roster spot for Dillard University Men's Basketball Team during the 1999-2000 season.

Rome earned an associate degree in Liberal Arts from Mary Holmes Junior College and graduated from Dillard University with a bachelor's of arts in Sociology in 2001.

Jessica Brown - Grad Assistant

Coach Brown enters her first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Lady Blue Devils. Brown is no stranger to Dillard University athletics. She played for the Lady Blue Devils from 1998-2002. During her tenure she was a two-time, GCAC All-Conference selection (00-01, 01-02) and helped lead the Lady Blue Devils to a GCAC Regular Season Championship, a GCAC Tournament Championship and a Sweet Sixteen Appearance in 2000-2001. She also earned Honorable-Mention All-American honors in 2002.

As a student, Brown majored in psychology and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2002. Brown continued her educational pursuits at Southern University at New Orleans, where she recently received her Master's in Social Work.

Brown will begin working on her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Sport Exercise Psychology at Argosy University, in Phoenix, AZ next year.


 
Loretta Martin Image
Loretta Martin - Student Assistant

Coach Martin enters her first season as a student assistant coach for the Lady Blue Devils. Martin was a stand-out forward for the Lady Blue Devils from 06-08. Martin was the third leading scorer on the team during her senior season. Prior to Dillard, Martin was a standout player for Copiah Lincoln Junior College where she earned, All-Conference Honors and Best Defensive Player of the Year.

Martin is a senior, majoring in elementary education. She has one daughter, Ireyell Martin.
