Mrs. Smith is the chairperson the Health and Physical Education department at Dillard University and serves as the director and choreographer of the DU Diamonds Dance Team. She is a certified health and physical education instructor and a first aid and CPR instructor. She serves as a member of the Faculty Council Board and is the chairperson of the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee. She is Dillard University's faculty athletic representative for the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). She teaches courses in physical therapy, early childhood majors, and modern and jazz dance classes, as well as coordinating many of Dillard's dance workshops.

Along with her duties in the Education Department, she parters with Dillard University's Theater Department. Her contributions include choreographing th eplay,"Ain't Misbehavin". Mrs. Smith is a former New Orleans Saints Cheerleader and has danced with the San Jacinto Dance Theater of New Orleans. In addition to performances, she choreographed a Pan-American Life Insurance Company Commerical for the Super Bowl. She has taught dance at the Treme' Community Center and The Tambourine & Fan Organization. Mrs. Smith served as aconsultant to the New Orleans Hornets NBA Team During the summer physical fitness/sports program and she has served as the activity director for the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP). Mrs. Smith began her career in education as an assistant professor at Grambling State University in the health and physical education department.
