(New Orleans) The Lady Bleu Devils snapped a three-game losing streak with a 98-59 blowout victory over Louisiana State University-Alexandria at the Battlefield in Dent Hall. The win is Dillard's seventh of the season.
Dillard (7-3, 0-0 GCAC) scored a season-high 39 points in the first quarter behind Shaelynn Moore (SO/Houston, Texas) who buried four 3-pointers in the opening quarter and finished with 18 points, six assists, six steals and four rebounds in 23 minutes of action while teammate Adriiana Jackson (SO/Houston, Texas) finished with 12 points, 12 assists, four rebounds and two steals, including 8-of-10 shots from the charity stripe. Moore is currently fifth in the nation in total 3-point field goals made (29) and seventh in the nation in 3-point field goals made per game (3.2) while Jackson ranks 11th in the nation in total steals (24) and 16th in the nation in total assists (41).
As a team Dillard shot 58 percent from the field while the Lady Generals shot just 30 percent. Dillard forced 29 turnovers and dished out 26 assists in the victory. The Lady Bleu Devils are no stranger to sharing the ball this season as they rank eighth in the nation in total assists with 162 and also rank 10th in the nation in assists per game (18).
Katie Lemieux led the Lady Generals with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the loss, which brings LSU-Alexandria to 1-2 on the season. Both losses were at the hands of Dillard University.
The Lady Bleu Devils return to action on Saturday, December 10 as they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to face William Carey University. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. Dillard defeated William Carey on November 10 by the score of 63-59 at the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
