(New Orleans) The Lady Bleu Devils not only snapped a 3-game losing streak but also avenged an earlier loss to conference opponent Edward Waters College with a five set victory (25-15, 16-25, 25-17, 26-28,15-6) over the Lady Tigers. Freshman Corneisja Harrison (FR/Cypress, Texas) led the way with a game-high 27 kills in the victory.

Freshman Ma-Kayla Johnson (FR/San Antonio, Texas) was all over the court for Dillard (7-13, 3-2 GCAC) as she finished with a game-high 46 assists in the win. EWC's Ashlyn Pavlock countered with a team-high 33 assists while teammate Kaylin Davison finished with a team-high 19 kills. Late in the fourth set it seemed like Edward Waters (7-8, 2-7 GCAC) was down for the count while trailing 23-24 in the fourth set (down two sets to one), but somehow managed to stay alive as they picked up the thrilling 28-26 victory. However, it wasn't enough as the Lady Bleu Devils finished off the Lady Tigers 15-6 in the final set.

The season series is tied 1-1 between these two young teams. The win catipults Dillard to third place in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference while the loss drops Edward Waters to sixth place.

On Thursday, October 6, the Lady Bleu Devils travel down the street to face Southern University at New Orleans at 6:00 p.m. The game was previously scheduled at Dillard but now will be played on the campus of SUNO.

Instead, the Lady Bleu Devils will now host SUNO on Oct. 27 for its annual "Pink Out-Breast Cancer Awareness" game.
