The St. James native prepped at St. James High School and played in all 31 games last season for DU, averaging a team-leading 11.55 points per game and 69 steals.   As a freshman, Mitchell was chosen the Lady Bleu Devils most valuable player for offense.  She is majoring in public health.     

Other hoopsters named to the preseason GCAC team were Valerie Huizar of LSU-Shreveport, Gerica Johnson of Mobile, Victoria Jones of Tougaloo, Kim Lewis of William Carey, Brittany Powell of Xavier, Jazzlyn Prince of Southern University-New Orleans, Trenell and Trenese Smith of Loyola, and Jira Williams of Belhaven.
