(Hammond, La.) Dillard sprinter Kaitlyn Fortuna (JR/New Orleans, La.) produced two third place finishes at the 2016 Southeastern Lion Invitational. Out of 46 participants, Fortuna posted a time of 12 flat in the women's 100 meter dash and out of 51 runners in the 200 meter dash she posted a time of 24.54. Fortuna is ranked fifth in the nation in the 200m dash and ninth in the nation in the 100m dash.

Dillard freshman Tajdreana Hurst (FR/Katy, Texas ) picked up an 11th place finish out of 31 runners in the women's 400 meter dash, posting a time of 58.75 while teammate Stephanie Coates (FR) finished 24th, posting a time of 1:02.04. Senior mid-distance runner Dominique Hardin (SR/Apple Valley, Calif.) finished seventh overall in the women's 800 meter run out of 18 participants, posting a time of 2:23.89 while teammate Hydeia Barney (FR) finished 11th with a time of 2:32.97.

Sophomore standout Sasha Newman (SO/Antioch, Calif.) picked up an eighth place finish in the women's 100 meter hurdles, posting a time of 14.63. She is currently ranked sixth overall in the NAIA in both the women's 100m and 400m hurdles. 

The Lady Bleu Devils 4x1 relay squad finished sixth out of eight teams, posting a time of 47.77. They are currently ranked eighth in the NAIA.

On Saturday, April 23, the Lady Bleu Devils will participate in the 2016 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships as they look for their first conference championship since 2012. The National Anthem is at 10:55 a.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans, and the 4x1 relays will follow. For more information, please visit the GCAC website.
