(Clinton, Miss.) Dillard traveled to Mississippi to participate in the 2016 Mississippi College Twilight Invitational. On a rainy but eventful day, Dillard was led by freshman Quamel Sessoms (FR/Portsmouth, Va.) who qualified for NAIA nationals with a third place finish out of 28 participants in the men's long jump, leaping a distance of 7.25m (PR).
Sessoms also participated in the men's 110m hurdles and placed ninth out of 12 athletes with a distance of 16.53. He and teammates Travis Robertson (FR/Oakland, Calif.), Stephano Flowers (SO/Terry, Miss.) and Eliott Cleveland led the men's 4x1 meter relay squad to a tenth place finish out of 16 teams while senior Cameron Tyler (SR/Oakland, Calif.) finished eighth out of 24 participants in the men's discus throw with a distance of 35.05m. Sophomore Toren Arnold (SO/New Orleans, La.) led the way in the men's 800m run with a fifth place finish, posting a time of 1:55.23 while teammate Lorenzo Gordon (SO/Dallas, Texas) came in seventh with a time of 1:58.67.
Dillard Freshman Class President Joseph Caldwell (FR/Houston, Texas) produced a third place finish in the men's pole vault with a distance of 3.66m while Theodore Kemp (JR/Indianapolis, Ind.) finished 14th out of 27 throwers in the men's shot put.
Flowers posted a time of 11.27 in the men's 100m dash, good enough for 12th place while Robertson had a 16th place finish out of 51 runners in the same event, posting a time of 11.29.
On Saturday, April 9, the Bleu Devils travel to Natchitoches to participate in the NSU Invitational.
