(New Orleans) The Lady Bleu Devils held its opponent to just nine first quarter points as they defeated the Tougaloo College Lady Bulldogs by the score of 81-66 at the Battlefield in Dent Hall. The win snaps a three-game skid for Dillard while the loss is Tougaloo's 13th straight defeat.

Dillard shook up its normal starting lineup and went with four new starters, including Benita Lee (JR/Tuscaloosa, Ala.) who was simply on fire from downtown, nailing 6-of-11 three-pointers and finishing with 18 points in the victory. Her teammate Alena Evans (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) had a solid output with 19 points, five steals, five rebounds and three assists in 40 minutes of action while Rashida Ademosu (SR/Nashville, Tenn.) chipped in with 12 points, four boards, three steals and two assists.

As a team the Lady Bleu Devils (8-11, 3-3 GCAC) had an impressive 15 offensive rebounds and enjoyed solid production off the bench from the splash sisters Alyssa Washington (FR/Austin, Texas) and Shaelynn Moore (FR/Houston, Texas) who finished with 17 points and 13 points respectively. The Lady Bleu Devils shot an astonishing 11-for-22 (50 percent) from behind the arc while Tougaloo shot 6-for-17 (35 percent) from three-point land led by Casey Chenevert who finished with 19 points, burying 5-of-12 from downtown. 

Reigning Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year (last season) Montoria Atkinson had a monster game finishing with 15 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

Dillard continues GCAC play on Saturday, February 6 as they travel across town to face the Xavier University Gold Nuggets in the 2016 Crosstown Classic. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
