(Jackson, Miss.) Quintarius Porter connected on a total of seven 3-pointers leading Tougaloo College over the Dillard Bleu Devils by the score of 100-92 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. In the contest, the Bleu Devils missed a total of 11 free throws.
The Bleu Devils (8-5, 0-1 GCAC) were led by junior Demetric Austin (JR/Washington, D.C.) who scored 24 points and hit 11-of-21 shots from the field but only managed to hit 1-of-6 free throws and was in foul trouble for most of the second half while teammate freshman point guard Montrey Thomas (FR/Shreveport, La.) pitched in with 19 points, dished out seven assists and nailed all five of his free throws. As a team, Dillard shot 52 percent from the field while the Bulldogs managed to shoot 46 percent from the field.
Tougaloo's Porter finished with a game-high 32 points in the victory as his team improves to 7-4 on the season. The Bulldogs produced five scorers in double figures and nailed a total of 14 3-pointers while Dillard had four in double-figures.
Dillard returns to action on Monday, January 4 as they travel to Little Rock to face Philander Smith College in the second GCAC game of the year. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
