(New Orleans, La.) The Lady Bleu Devils showed signs of life throughout the game but couldn't quite get over the hump as they fell to Huston-Tillotson University by the score of 62-44. Dillard has now lost its last two games by a combined score of 48 points.
The Lady Bleu Devils (5-8, 0-0 GCAC) scored just five points in the third quarter and were led by senior Alena Evans (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) who finished with a game-high 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting from the field. Evans also grabbed six rebounds in the loss while teammate Shaelynn Moore (FR/Houston, Texas) was the only other Lady Bleu Devil to score in double figures as she finished with 11 points and six boards.
As a team Dillard shot a horrid 25 percent from the field and shot just 20 percent from behind the arc. On a positive note, Dillard outrebounded its opponents 44 to 42. With the win, Huston-Tillotson advances to 6-1 on the season. The Lady Rams are ranked number one in the entire National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in scoring margin (49.16) and also in field goal percentage (.496). They are ranked number two in the NAIA in 3-point field goal defense (.224).
Dillard returns to action on Saturday, January 2 as they travel to Jackson, Miss. to face the Tougaloo College in its first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game of the year. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
