(GCAConf.com) Dillard University guard/forward Alena Evans (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) has been named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the sixth week of the 2015-16 season.

Evans, a senior from Las Vegas, Nevada, earns her second straight Player of the Week honor after leading the Dillard Lady Bleu Devils to a season sweep of their series with 13th-ranked Loyola. Evans scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the 71-69 victory at The Den. This was her sixth game with at least 20 points this season. She also converted 11 of her 12 free throw attempts.

"I'm trying my best to help my team win," said Evans.

Evans ranks fourth in NAIA Division 1 in total points (194), thirteenth in total rebounds (84) and seventeenth in scoring average (17.6). She's in the GCAC's top five in scoring, field goal percentage and rebounding average.

This is her third career Player of the Week award.

Evans recently entered the 1,000 point Bleu Devil club with her performance at Loyola. She is currently at 1,022 points for her career as a Lady Bleu Devil.
