(Austin, Tx.) The Dillard University Lady Belu Devils track and field team was fortunate enough to compete with some of the top track and field programs in the country at the 2015 Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the Mike A. Myers Stadium. With a time of 48.43, the Lady Bleu Devils 4x100 meter relay team landed 34th out of 50 teams in the preliminary round. The relay squad is comprised of sophomores Kaitlyn Fortuna (SO/New Orleans, LA), India Ware (SO/Missouri City, TX) and freshmen Sasha Newman (FR/Antioch, CA) and Megan Reed (FR/Thibodaux, LA).
"I can say that the Texas Relays was a great experience for everyone," said Reed. "The competition was no joke but we still ran our hearts out. As long as we performed as a team and ran well and performed fearlessly, we are ok and we got through it."
Fortuna and Reed also participated in the women's 100 meter dash, but like the 4x1 relay squad, did not advance to the finals. Junior Dominique Hardin (JR/Apple Valley, CA), Reed, Fortuna and Ware also competed in the women's 4x400 meter relay as well, but did not make it to the finals.
The Lady Bleu Devils will now prepare for the 2015 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships on April 11 at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans.
