(New Orleans, La.)  Despite leading by four points at intermission, the Lady Bleu Devils squanered an opportunity to claim sole possesion of second place heading into next week's GCAC tournament by falling to the Xavier Gold Nuggets by the score of 60-57 at the 2015 Crosstown Classic and the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Game of the Week.

Dillard (16-12, 8-6 GCAC) was led by senior sharp-shooter Ciara Morgan (SR/Springfield, IL) who finished with 11 points including two 3-pointers in the loss.  Point guard Shantrell Lumar (SO/Baton Rouge, LA) had 10 points for DU but had six turnovers on the night.  Lumar had a chance to tie with a 3-point shot at the buzzer but the rim was unkind and her shot bounced off the rim, sealing Xavier's victory.

Junior Alena Evans (JR/Las Vegas, NV) had an off night and finished with 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field.  Evans is the reigning GCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

DU is finished with regular season play as they land in third place in next week's GCAC tournament, most likely facing Edward Waters College in the first round of the tourney.  On February 23 DU defeated EWC in Jacksonville, Fla. by the score of 73-66.
