(Jackson, Ms.)  The Lady Bleu Devils trailed by as many as nine points in the first half before outscoring its opponents 35-24 in the second half for a slim 56-53 victory over Belhaven University on the road.  Dillard forced 22 turnovers in the win.

The Lady Bleu Devils (8-6, 0-1 GCAC) shot just 31 percent from the field and were outrebounded 49-43.  Junior Alena Evans (JR/Las Vegas, NV) had a monster game and produced a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards (10 offensive) in 31 minutes.  Senior guard Brittany Smith (SR/Houston, TX) chipped in with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting for Dillard.

The Lady Bleu Devils trailed by two points with less than two minutes to go when Belhaven's Ariel Wilson missed a free throw.  Dillard point guard Shantrell Lumar (SO/Baton Rouge, LA) then grabbed the rebound and eventually got the ball to Smith who buried a three pointer, giving Dillard the lead for good.  With seconds remaining in the ball game, Wilson missed a potential game tying three-pointer for Belhaven.

On Saturday, January 10, Dillard returns to conference play and travels to South Carolina for a GCAC game against Voorhees College.  Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
