(New Orleans, La.)  Basketball season is right around the corner, and the Dillard University Lady Bleu Devils are looking forward to the new season and tough competition in the GCAC (Gulf Coast Athletic Conference).

Last year the Lady Bleu Devils finished the season with a 3-16 record under first year head coach Norbert Rome.  This year Coach Rome has added four new players to the team including First- team GCAC All-Conference player guard Rashida Ademosu (JR/Nashville, TN) from Fisk University.  In addition, nine players are returning from last year squad.

Last year Dillard's record in the GCAC was 3-9.

Entering his second season as head coach, and seventh season with Dillard University, Coach Rome thinks this year's team is different.

"I think this year we are going to have a special year," said Rome.  "Because of all the leaders we have this year, the team's basketball IQ has been raised to another level."

The Lady Bleu Devils season opener is on the road against Texas College in Tyler, Texas, on Oct. 31 and their home opener is against Texas College as well on November 4 at 7:00 pm at the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
