New Orleans, LA - If the magic number were three, the Dillard Lady Bleu Devils would be lottery winners. The women defeated Concordia College-Selma 3-0, extending their win streak to three, and freshman outside hitter Paula Ogbevoen served up three aces on a 13-point service run, Monday night at Dent Hall. Match scores were 25-12, 25-6 and 25-10.
Over the course of the 55 minute match, Concordia was error prone and continuously hammered by the Lady Bleu Devils. Dillard posted 10 service aces over three sets, with Ogbevoen posting her match-high three when she rattled off 13 unanswered points, at the top of the second game. Junior setter Danta Cobb served seven straight points in game one and, in game three, the Lady Hornets found themselves down 19-5 before a kill error gave them a sixth point, ending DU's 8-0 run.
Dillard's three-game win streak is currently the longest in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The women sit in third place and face their next GCAC opponent, the University of Mobile, later this week. In contrast, the Lady Rams (6-6, 2-0) are on a three game skid, but still hold down the number two spot in conference rankings. Loyola University is in first place.
The Lady Bleu Devils will host Mobile on Thursday, September 24, at 7 p.m., at Dent Hall.
