(New Orleans)  Dillard dropped its sixth straight game with a loss to nationally ranked Xavier University by the score of 62-54 in the 2014 Crosstown Classic in the Convocation Center which hosted several professional athletes such as Jacoby Jones of the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Bleu Devils (4-7, 0-5 GCAC) were led by last year's GCAC Freshman of the Year Jarrain Jenkins who finished with 10 points and seven boards on the night.  He also chipped in with two steals, one block and one assist in 33 minutes.  Senior Lance Theard pitched in with nine points, four rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes of action.

For the Gold Rush, Morris Wright had a game-high 18 points, three boards, two assists and two steals on the night while Anthony Goode finished with 14 points and four turnovers, shooting 3-of-6 from the field and going 2-for-4 from behind the arc.  Goode was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe while Morris was 7-for-8 from the line.

As a team the Gold Rush hit 25-of-32 free throws while the Bleu Devils hit 10-of-15 from the charity stripe, shooting less than half of what Xavier attempted on Saturday.  The Gold Rush outrebounded Dillard 41-21.

The Bleu Devils continue conference play as they host Tougaloo College on Monday, January 27 in the Battlefield at Dent Hall.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
