(New Orleans)  Dillard dropped its fifth straight game with a loss to nationally ranked Philander Smith College by the score of 82-63 at the Battlefield in Dent Hall in a rematch of last year's GCAC Men's Basketball Championship game.

Despite trailing by one point at the half, Dillard (4-6, 0-4 GCAC) played sound ball in the first half, shooting 54 percent from the field against PSC's 34 percent.  However, the Panthers jumped out to an 8-0 run to start the second half and never looked back, outscoring the Bleu Devils 48-30 in the latter half.

PSC nailed 14 three pointers in the game versus just three for Dillard.

The Bleu Devils were led by freshman Robert Pratt who finished with 14 points, four rebounds and one block in 20 minutes, shooting 8-for-10 from the free throw line, while senior Lance Theard filled up the stat sheet for Dillard with 13 points, seven assists, four rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes.

The Bleu Devils continue conference play and travel across town on Saturday, January 25 as they face Xavier University in the 2014 Crosstown Classic in the Convocation center on the campus of Xavier University.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
