New Orleans, LA - Dillard Women's Volleyball beat Spring Hill College 3-1 to earn its first conference win, Friday night at Dent Hall.  It was Dillard's first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference match of the season.

Freshman outside hitter Paula Ogbevoen led the Lady Bleu Devils (2-4, 1-0) with 11 kills, followed by senior outside hitter Keisha Smoke, with 10.  Dillard won the match by scores of 27-25, 25-21, 16-25, and 25-20.

The first game went point for point, but game two saw Spring Hill (2-6, 1-3) jump out to a five-point lead, 13-18, off two service aces.  Dillard rallied back when Ogbevoen posted back to back kills for the tie and lead, 19-18, and the Lady Bleu Devils held on for the win.

In game three, the Lady Badgers amassed an early eight point lead, 12-4, and errors seemed to stall Dillard's efforts.  DU got only within four points, eventually losing the set on a kill by Spring Hill's outside hitter Cassandra Marchand.

The Lady Badgers carried that momentum into game four and they got off to a quick 5-0 start.  They were up 11-6 when Dillard senior Banikah Jackson (RS/S) went on a four-point service run, bringing the score within one, 10-11.  Moments later, junior middle blocker Cenquis Rockett nailed a spike to put the Lady Bleu Devils within one again, 14-15, shifting momentum Dillard's way.  With junior setter Danta Cobb serving, DU tied the game at 15-all and rallied to a two-point lead, 17-15, its first of the game.  The home team remained in control the rest of the way, with the final blow delivered by Rockett off a Cobb assist, to end the match.

Other match highs were freshman libero Yladrea Marshall with 15 digs; Cobb had 15 assists and Rockett added three solo blocks.

Dillard will host Concordia College - Selma in a non-conference matchup on Monday, September 21, at Dent Hall.  Game time is 7 p.m.
