(New Orleans)  Dillard picked up its first victory of the season with a win over Fisk University by the score of 67-59 at the Battlefield in Dent Hall.

"I think all the credit goes to the girls," said Coach Norbert Rome.  "They worked hard to earn their win.  We will take 24 hours to enjoy our win, and then we will focus on our next game which is Monday (MLK Day)."

Dillard sophomore Alena Evans led Dillard (1-8, 1-2 GCAC) and produced a double-double for the game finishing with 17 points and 15 boards, shooting 5-for-15 from the field.  Evans also produced three steals on the night.  Senior Brionne Brister had a monster game off the bench with 12 points and seven boards in 23 minutes.  Brister was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.  Dillard's bench outscored Fisk 40 to 11.

The Lady Bleu Devils played solid defense throughout the game, forcing Fisk to 20 turnovers and only committing 11 themselves.  Dillard also produced four scorers in double figures.

Freshman Jalisa Swift assisted the Lady Bleu Devils with 11 points, four boards, three steals and one assist in 32 minutes of action while junior Keylantra Taylor finished with 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting.  Taylor also grabbed six boards, two steals and one assist in 22 minutes.

The win marked the first career victory for Rome as a collegiate head coach.

The Lady Bleu Devils continue conference play and face Philander Smith College on Monday, January 20 (MLK Day) at 5:30 p.m. at the Battlefield in Dent Hall in the Battle of @hiphopprez 1 (Old School vs. New School).
