(New Orleans)  The Dillard Bleu Devils basketball team has officially named Jeremy Jones as their new assistant coach.  Jones brings a vast knowledge of basketball to the program as he joins head coach Bernard Griffith's staff.

"It's an honor," said Jones.  "To work for a Hall of Fame coach who has won on all levels is humbling."

Jones gives much of his basketball credit to a couple of proven hoopsters who helped him as a young student in the game.

"Two of my mentors are former NBA players George 'Treetop' Johnson and Brian Stith.  They not only helped me with the physical aspect of the game, but also the mental aspect of the game which can be equally as important."

Jones graduated from Hampton University in Virginia with a bachelor's degree in sports management.  He later earned a master's in sports management from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.  He has worked with the Washington Wizards as a basketball camp coach and also participated in an internship with the Wizards organization in sales and hospitality.

Jones has also interned with Nike US Basketball in brand marketing.

"Being around and working with different people from various backgrounds and religions gives you a different outlook on the game of basketball," said Jones.  "Although everyone was taught a different way of playing basketball, in the end, it's still the same."
