(New Orleans)  The Lady Bleu Devils fought gallantly but came up on the short end of the stick as they fell to Southern University by the score of 84-49 in an exhibition game in Baton Rouge.

"We worked hard," said first year head coach Norbert Rome.  "We have to continue to work on our offensive execution and to continue to develop our overall team chemistry."

Baton Rouge native freshman Shantrell Lumar led Dillard with 10 points, five boards, three assists and two steals.  Juniors Keylantra Taylor and Brittany Smith both chipped in with seven points apiece.  Lumar went 4-of-6 from the charity stripe while Smith was 5-of-6 from the line.

Southern's Kendra Coleman led all scorers with 34 points, and Britney Washington finished with 11 points for the Jaguars.

The Lady Bleu Devils open the regular season on Monday, November 4 as they host Belhaven University at 5:30 p.m. at the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
