(Metairie) Senior Emory Nash put in countless hours of work over the off-season, and it showed on Saturday as he led the way for Dillard University with a 29th place finish out of 49 runners at the Wolf Pack Invitational at Lafreniere Park in Metairie with a time of 19:59.01.
"Today was a start to a good season," said Nash, who is participating in his fourth straight year in cross country at Dillard. "I think me and my teammates can improve and build on this throughout the year."
The grueling three mile race had significant mud puddles around the course which affected the runners. Junior Jevonte Ezzard finished 34th for Dillard with a time of 20:39.29. Junior Daniel Gibson crossed next for Dillard at 38th, posting a time of 21:11.66, and senior Rudy Garza and sophomore Courtney Tyler finished 45th and 47th respectively with times of 23:46.70 and 25:36.41.
The Bleu Devils finished seventh overall with a total time of 1:51:13.07.
