(New Orleans) The Dillard University cheerleaders turned in a stellar performance at the Universal Cheerleader Association's camp, held at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa.
The DU cheerleaders were among the 1,400 cheerleaders, mascots and college dance squads from around the nation at the cheerleader camp in Tuscaloosa. The overall goal of the camp is to learn new cheers, sideline chants, fight song dance, stunts and pyramids. Dillard cheerleaders competed against other schools in the Open All-Girl Division portion of the camp.
The 2013-14 squad nabbed fourth place in the fight song dance competition while also garnering fourth place in the sideline section. Dillard placed second in the game day cheer performance competition and also received four Superior Evaluation ribbons along with a "Camp Improvement" plaque.
"I am extremely proud of the team," said second year head cheerleader coach Juana Green. "I think it was a great experience for them, and although most of the team had attended a cheer camp before, I believe they were able to appreciate this one more as a college squad," said Green.
"They got a chance to see what the other teams are doing while they learned what changes needed to be made in order to improve their skills."
