(New Orleans) Graduating seniors Keona Favis and Nneoma Duru have officially signed to join the Lady Bleu Devil family beginning in August.
Favis graduated from Southwood High School in Shreveport and helped her Lady Cowboys to a state championship this season with a 36-1 record. Despite three prior trips, the six foot guard/forward finally won her first Louisiana state title in high school and finished with a 5.0 on the honors scale.
"We made it to the state championship game all four years that I was at Southwood, but this was the first time we won," said Favis.
Duru will graduate from Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, Texas, and led her team to a 33-4 record before losing in the semi-finals. The five foot nine inch power forward/center finished with a 3.8 grade point average, scored a 27 on the ACT, and was also selected to the 2012 25-4A All-District, 4-A Region IV All-Region and 4A All-State girls' basketball teams. The two-sport regional athlete also earned a spot on the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 4A All-State girl's academic first team and wants to become an orthopedic surgeon after college.
"I look forward to harder classwork, and to experience college," said Duru. "I am also ready to learn to do things on my own as well as getting to know new people."
